How it works
The mechanism, without the marketing
Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment designed to support hydration and skin quality rather than create facial structure or conventional filler volume. It is placed at selected points and disperses through the tissue. The intended change is subtle: skin may look more hydrated, smoother or better supported, but the face should not look reshaped.
What we assess
The details that change the plan
Whether dehydration or early skin quality change is the main concern
Degree of laxity, volume loss, pigmentation or scarring
Skin health, recent procedures and tendency to swell or bruise
Whether a different regenerative, resurfacing or structural treatment fits better
Before, during & after
What the appointment may involve
Before, assessment: The skin is assessed in natural light and the expected degree of change is discussed. Significant laxity or volume loss usually needs a different conversation.
During, treatment: Small injections are placed at defined points. Temporary raised areas at injection sites are expected and usually settle.
After, recovery: Bruising, swelling, tenderness and short lived bumps may occur. Individual aftercare is provided and treatment is postponed if the skin is inflamed or infected.
Results, course & recovery
What changes, and when
Improvement is gradual and tends to be judged over weeks rather than immediately. A commonly used pathway begins with more than one session, but the number and interval should be personalised. Maintenance is considered only if the initial response and value justify it.
Limits, risks & alternatives
The part that should never be hidden
Profhilo does not relax expression muscles, replace structural volume, remove pigmentation, treat broken capillaries or correct significant acne scarring. Injectable risks still apply, including bruising, infection, inflammatory reactions and rare vascular complications. Polynucleotides, microneedling, laser, skincare or no treatment may be more appropriate depending on the concern.
